Gait Disorders

Gait limitations can result from orthopedic issues, neurological dysfunction or as a by-product of aging or deconditioning. Strengthening exercises are essential to ensure the lower extremities can support the body during the gait cycle. Balance is an essential component of gait as we must be able to sustain periods of single-leg support when we walk. At times, we will break down the gait cycle and work on certain aspects prior to putting the pieces together. Altered gait patterns are inefficient and can be unsafe.
